Richard, 84, of Virginia Beach passed away on January 18, 2021 at home with his family by his side. He was born February 15, 1936 in Brownville, NY, youngest son of six children, and born to Charles and Lettie DeLacey. He spent his childhood in Brownville and entered the US Navy in 1955. Upon leaving the Navy, he worked in various sales positions until his retirement.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Rosemary, daughters Jennifer, Elizabeth, and Cynthia, son Richard Jr aka “Rick,” daughter-in-law Natalie, and 9 grandchildren: Ashley, Sterling, Kelsey, Mike, Colby, Quinton, Mackenna, Joshua, and Michael Z. Richard and Rosemary became great-grandparents in October 2020 to Cooper James Kelly.
Also to miss him is his sister, Janet, close cousin Carlton, numerous nieces and nephews, and his best friends since the ‘60s, Charlie and George! Richard acknowledges that they taught him well.
A memorial service and “Celebration of Life” will be held at a later date when Covid-19 restrictions are lifted.
The Cremation Society of Virginia is handling the arrangements.
