Mildred L. Johnson, 87, of Hampton, VA, entered eternal peace on October 8th, 2017. She was an active member of Carver Presbyterian Church for over 50 years.
Mildred graduated from Huntington High School class of 1948 and worked as a Librarian at Hampton University Early Child Development Center for 33 years. She was preceded in death by her husband Willis Eugene “Gene” Johnson, a professional baseball player and the love of her life for nearly 40 years; parents John and Mary Brown; sisters, Virginia Sinclair and Dorothy Coe; brothers, Julius and Phillip Brown, Sr,; niece, Dorothy Sinclair Tucker and nephew, Phillip Brown, Jr.
Celebrating her life and memory are nephews, Lorenzo Brown of Hampton, Harry Coe of Newport News and Joseph Brown of Georgia; great-nephews Verrandall Tucker of Virginia Beach and Vincent Tucker (Shalawn) of Chester, VA; great-niece Dr. Wanda Tucker of Pheonix, AZ, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and devoted friends.
Memorial Service will be held Friday October 20, 2017 at 11:00 am at Carver Memorial Presbyterian Church, 830 25th St., Newport News, VA 23607.
