Michael Scott Ogle, 49, passed away on Sunday, September 26, 2021, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA from cardiac arrest. He was born on October 19, 1971, to James Charles Ogle and Linda Evans Monatsberger in Norfolk, VA.
In addition to being predeceased by his parents, Michael was predeceased by his step-son, Garrett Williams. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Kim; son, Cohen; fur babies, Bodie and Rosie; brother, William Ogle; step sister, Laura Ogle; step brother, Chris Ogle; aunt and uncle, Gloria and Jimmy Pfeiffer; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Michael was a graduate of Maury High School Class of 89 and the Newport News Shipyard Apprentice School. He received his undergraduate and Master’s degrees from Old Dominion University in Engineering. He was employed at Newport News Shipyard for 31 years, where he started as a ship fitter and has worked in the Radiological Audit Department for the past 12 years.
Besides his love for his family, friends and the Lord, Michael was passionate about the Redskins and fantasy football. He also loved coaching and playing basketball with Cohen and was a great cook and excellent grill master! He enjoyed fishing, camping with his New Point family and a good competitive game of cards. Outside of work, Michael was anything but serious. His laugh was contagious and he always had something funny to say. He was a great husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, son-in-law, brother-in law, friend and employee. He will be dearly missed by so many.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, October 2nd at 1:00 pm at Crossroads Church of Norfolk (1127 Surrey Crescent, Norfolk, VA 23508). There will be a reception immediately following outside in the courtyard for people to visit and enjoy light snacks. In lieu of flowers, please visit www.blueridgeboxerrescue.com to make a donation in Michael’s honor. If you are unable to make it to the service, you can use the link below to view the service live. Dear Kim and family, please accept our deepest condolences to you and your family for we just learned of Michael's passing. May Michael's memory be eternal! I cannot express the sorrow we felt to know such a giving person was taken from this earth. We pray you and your family find peace and comfort as others step forward to stand watch moving forward. I'm so glad I saw you before you moved and we wish you and your son well as you begin to pick up the pieces.
