Virginia Beach ~ Linda A. Toohey-Anderson, 56, of Virginia Beach, VA passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, November 5, 2020 at Sentara Leigh.

Born in Providence, Rhode Island, she is the daughter of Robert H. Hesford, Sr. and the late Catherine J. Manchester.

Linda was a realtor for 28 years, most which were with her Rose and Womble family.

Linda had a sparkling, joyful and infectious personality. Linda never met a stranger. She was one of the most giving and selfless people you will ever meet. Her motto is “the more, the merrier.” Linda is the true definition of a survivor. She never let a situation get her down, she always overcame it.

Some of the pleasures in life Linda enjoyed were hanging out with friends and family, her grandchildren, spending a day at the beach, getting her nails done, listening to music, and decorating for a holiday.

Linda is predeceased by her mother, Catherine J. (Hesford) Manchester; her brother, Robert H. Hesford, Jr.; and her maternal and paternal grandparents.

Linda leaves behind to cherish her memory her four children: Sara and Peter Toohey and Shane and Matthew Anderson and her three grandchildren, Landon and McKenzie Toohey and Jack Anderson. She also leaves behind her father, Robert H. Hesford, Sr. of Cranston, RI; her sister, Jennifer Greene of Exeter, RI; her brother, Brian Hesford of North Kingstown, RI; her half-sister, Amanda Couture of Warwick, RI; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Another Misty Memory of My Friend

Fond Memories

I am very sad to hear of the passing of my old friend Linda, we met back in the 80’s while working at Toy’s R Us. I spent many nights hanging out with Linda & Dave at their apartment in West Warwick sipping beers and listening to music, then careers and adulthood got in the way. An interesting story, I remember Linda telling me that when she and Dave got married their wedding song was, “What I Like About You”, by the Romantics, so whenever I hear that song, I would always think of my old friend. Thoughts and prays to Linda’s family and loved ones.

Linda, was very a special person, she radiated light and love everywhere she went. We are incredibly sad that she is no longer with us, and our hearts go out to all of her loved ones. Linda was generous, thoughtful, joyful, and kind. She made us feel loved and like instant parts of her family. We will miss her immensely.

Sara, Peter, Shane, and Matthew: I'm so shocked an sorry to hear of your mother's passing. Her friendship was a big part of my teenage and early adult years. I will cherish the memories. I know she loved you dearly. It was so great to get catch up with her a couple of years ago, when she came to RI to visit her father. She was a special person.

Linda I still can’t believe it.you were always there for me or anyone that needed a friend. When someone said I would give them the shirt off her back well Linda would do it. I am so absolutely shocked and saddened by the news. I got to know Linda well as her personal banker at Chartway Federal Credit Union. She loved her family and friends so much and my prayers are will all of you. Please let me know if I can be of any assistance to you. I am so saddened to hear of Linda’s passing. She was always available to me and my husband during our home purchase. She had such a warm personality that put you at ease. My prayers are with her family during this difficult time.

I am incredibly saddened to hear of the passing of Linda. She always had a smile on her face, and her presence alone was enough to bring a smile to anyone who met her. She will be missed.

My husband and I are very saddened to hear this news. Linda just celebrated my 33rd birthday at her office at River Gate. Our thoughts and prayers to her family and love ones.

Linda was an amazing mom. I met Linda before I went into real estate. My husband, Jeff, coached her son in soccer and we just saw each other on the field and then in real estate. Each time we had a deal together, we would talk about the kids and now have the kids have grown now over 15+ years and now grandkids. She loved her family so much and loved her career. She was a fun energetic person that I will never forget!

It saddens me to hear the news of Linda's passing. I have worked with Linda several times. Linda has the kindest heart and the biggest smile. She will be dearly missed by many.
