Obituary
Carol Ann Margaret Craig of Virginia Beach passed away on November 27, 2020, the day after Thanksgiving. Today and always we give thanks for Carol. Carol grew up in Saint Lambert, Quebec with two siblings, Jim and Penny. It was here that she met her husband of 52 years, Norman L. Craig. Carol studied Nursing at the Royal Victoria Hospital of Montreal where she cultivated her love of caring for others.
Carol moved with her husband, Norm, to the United States where she was a supportive Navy wife and was active in her community.
While in Texas they were blessed with their first son, Chris; later in California they were graced with their second son, Jeff. In 1973, Carol and Norm layed down roots in Virginia Beach, Virginia where they made many lifelong friends.
Carol and Norm spent many summers of their youth and adult lives in North Hero, Vermont. Later they shared their love of this special place with their sons, family, and grandchildren.
Carol and Norm enjoyed traveling the world together and experiencing other cultures and art. Carol, having a love for art and a passion for giving to others, volunteered for many years as a master docent at the Chrysler Museum of Art. Here she also served as the Chair of the Docent Council. Carol also carried this dedication to helping others as an active member in a Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters circle.
A loving mother, Carol was always supportive of her own children and extended this love to all those who crossed her path. Carol treasured her grandchildren and doted on them celebrating each holiday and milestone with a pure heart.
Carol loved people and strangers quickly became friends. Carol had a zest for life and was always able to put a smile on her face even during the most difficult times. Friends and family remember Carol’s thoughtfulness and graciousness as she always made the time to reach out to others. Even in her final days, Carol was thinking about “thank you” cards.
Carol’s memory will live on through her husband Norm, sons Chris and Jeff, daughters-in-law Allison and Jacki, her beloved grandchildren Noah, Leah, Brennan, Holden, and Finley, her siblings Penny and Jim, nieces, nephews and the many who saw her as a second mom, aunt, and friend along the way. Carol Craig will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be held this summer in North Hero, Vermont when we can gather safely to celebrate Carol’s life. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to The Chrysler Museum of Art, the Children’s Hospital of the Kings’s Daughters, or the MSA Coalition.

Norm, Chris, Jeff, and family, I was so sorry to hear that Carol passed. Part of the reason I traveled to Virginia Beach at Thanksgiving was not only to see my parents but to see Carol. I am sorry to say that I missed my opportunity. Our families have been friends for so many years it is tough to count. How many neighbors do you know that both take down their fence so that either family can come back and forth to each others house? Some of my fondest memories will be the dinners we had together at Thanksgiving and at Christmas especially since Carol's birthday was on Christmas Eve. The laughing and entertainment the kids put on for the adults afforded all of us many hours of great company and lasting memories. What was nice about this relationship is that we always knew each family was there for the other without hesitation. I will miss her dearly and hope the family continues to heal. You are all in my thoughts and prayers, Helen

It is with great sadness to learn of Carol's passing, We were classmates and roommates in our RVH Class of 1964. We all seemed to get nicknames, and she was our much loved "Lanky". Such a beautiful and kind friend, always interested in others. We were so fortunate to have such a close knit group and remained good friends for 50 years. She will be greatly missed...deepest condolences to Norm and to all of Carol's family. Kathy Cleaver ("Pete") I hope to be able to share Carol's Celebration of Life on Saturday via Zoom.

I can only repeat what has already been said. I so enjoyed knowing Carol as a docent. She was always kind and gracious and such a joy to be with whether at the museum or out to lunch as many of us used to do. It was a blessing to be in her company.

She was the kindest, warmest, and friendliest person I've ever met. I had the opportunity to work with Carol when she became President of the Docent Council, and it was a pleasure to work with her. She was always calm and gracious. She will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayer for the family for your loss.

Dear Norm , I'm so very sorry about your loss of Carol. She was so lovely and we had such a good time as docents. That was the best part of being a docent at the Chrysler that I had the chance to know great ladies in our provincial class--like Carol. 2020 has not been a stellar year. Take care, Lida Hudson
